01 / The Challenge

The Challenge

Health literacy is one of the biggest barriers to effective care. Lilly recognized that even the best treatments can fall short if patients and providers are not communicating clearly. The company wanted a unified approach combining health literacy best practices with strong visual design, while also refreshing an existing provider training to reflect current branding and cultural standards.

02 / The Shift

The Shift We Made

We elevated the project from a single training update to a companywide health literacy initiative. I led creative direction to shape tools, visuals, and training materials that made complex concepts approachable, patient-friendly, and aligned with Lilly’s design system.

03 / The Work

How We Did It

  • Conducted a needs assessment and developed a three-year roadmap with clear goals and milestones
  • Designed a custom Health Literacy Scorecard and plain language thesaurus
  • Directed the refresh of Lilly’s provider training video, redesigning slides, visuals, and scripts
  • Delivered staff trainings blending content strategy with practical design guidance for patient-facing materials
